Welcome to Module 2!!
So, Module 1
is over, and we have officially entered module 2. I can honestly say I’m
feeling so much more positive about the course, as towards the end of module 1
something clicked in my mind and things were making more sense. My thoughts came
together, and I had a better understanding of what I considered to be my
practice. Which helped me then properly articulate my thoughts and feelings
towards it. We had our first zoom session last week in which we went through each
step of the portfolio we will be submitting at the end of the term. Learning from
the last term I know how imperative it is that set time aside to re-watch the
class and take additional notes. Also, that I set time for a few hours away
from the house (no children in tow) to do my work.
As we went through
the portfolio submission, different ideas for a question to base my inquiry on
came to mind. Most actually came from my Areas of Learning from the last module.
And after a talk with my supervisor, I feel I more clear about the direction I would
like to take my inquiry. Two areas I am focusing on currently are:
-
Being
a parent and still have a professional career
-
Representation
in the Industry
I think
these two areas I am going to research further and see which one has more
literature that I can explore and develop. In the zoom session we also talked
about ‘Big Ideas and Little Wonders’ which meant pulling back and focusing on
the smaller idea instead of the big broad one.
At the start of the year I told myself that I would like to try and read one book a month. So seeing in the handbook that we have to do a literature review has given me the push I need to keep this going. It will also help me to broaden the range of books I read. Overall I’m
feeling very optimistic about this part of the course and look forward to
researching and learning more about putting together my inquiry proposal. Really looking forward to reading and hearing some of your ideas and what you are researching. 😊
